Identification tip: Walnut aphids feed on the lower leaf surface and are much smaller than dusky-veined aphids.

Identification tip: Dusky-veined aphid nymphs have dark, banded spots on the back. These spots are much less pronounced or absent on the nymphs of the walnut aphid. They feed along the midvein on the upper leaf surface.
