Photographs and figures on the UC IPM Web site are copyrighted by the Regents of the University of California, unless otherwise noted.

The UC Statewide IPM Program grants users permission to download textual pages (including PDF files) from this World Wide Web site for personal use or to reproduce them for educational purposes, but credit lines and copyright notices within the pages must not be removed or modified.

Except for these specified uses, no part of the textual materials available on the UC IPM Web site may be copied, downloaded, stored in a retrieval system, further transmitted or otherwise reproduced, stored, disseminated, transferred or used, in any form or by any means, except as permitted herein or with the University of California's prior written agreement. Request permission from UC IPM. Distribution for commercial purposes is prohibited.

Links to any of these UC IPM pages are permitted, but no endorsement of the linking site or products mentioned in the linking page is intended or implied by such a link.

PHOTOGRAPHS

Prohibited uses

Photographs may not be used in connection with the promotion of any commercial product or in "for sale" Web sites, and no exceptions will be granted for such uses. In addition, they may not be used and distributed in software, photo sets, or other electronic media, or in any printed publication without written consent.

Slide presentations

Copies of the electronic images may be used in slide presentations (2"x2" or electronic presentations) but may not be used in connection with the promotion of any commercial product.

Web sites

For educational purposes, any Web site can link directly to a photo file (or its descriptive page) on the UC IPM Web site to display photographs and associated text. This is the preferred method for displaying UC IPM Web site photos. Please notify us if you link to us.

Educational institutions and governmental agencies

Linking directly to the photo page on the UC IPM Web site is the preferred method for displaying these photos. However, up to 20 images may be copied to an educational institution's or governmental agency's Web site for display as long as the following conditions are met:

  • Copyright statement cannot be removed from original UC IPM photo.
  • Credit must be given on or adjacent to the photo: "Used with permission from University of California Statewide IPM Program, J. K. Clark, photographer" (or other photographer, as appropriate).
  • The UC Statewide IPM Program should be notified of this use. Contact UC IPM.
  • A link to the UC IPM Web site (http://www.ipm.ucanr.edu) for more information should be included within the educational institution's or governmental agency's Web site.
  • If appropriate, the linking Web page should reference the UC IPM publication it appeared in, as well as ordering information.
  • The educational institution or governmental agency is responsible for copying the photo files from the UC IPM Web site.

Printed publications

Generally, UC IPM photos are made available for the following uses:

  • University of California Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) publications.
  • Journal articles or UC ANR handouts by University of California authors.
  • Newspaper or magazine articles about University of California research or extension activities.
  • In limited numbers (12 only) for publications (including electronic publications) by other land-grant colleges or public agencies. However, in no case should IPM photos comprise more than 25% of the total images in a publication.
  • In limited numbers to UC ANR authors who are publishing for-sale publications through publishers other than UC ANR. In no case should UC IPM photos comprise more than 25% of the total images in a publication, or exceed 30 images.
  • As provided with UC IPM media releases, for that purpose only.

The photos may not be used in connection with the promotion of a commercial product or in "for-sale" publications or software produced by private companies.

FIGURES

Generally, figures or line drawings may be used if the source is properly credited—unless a line drawing is copyrighted by another source and was used by the UC IPM Program with permission. For permission to use line drawings from the Web site, contact UC IPM.

Nondiscrimination statement
