Symptoms and Signs
Early infections cause seedlings to wilt, collapse, and die. This phase of the disease resembles damping-off diseases seen in other crops. When cilantro is infected at an older stage, plants exhibit stunting, yellowing, collapse and death. Vascular tissues of infected older plants have red to brown discoloration of the xylem. Also roots are affected and rot.
Comments on the Disease
This pathogen is host specific to cilantro and will not infect other Apiaceae (carrot family) plants.
Management
Do not plant cilantro in fields having a history of this disease.
