Pests in Gardens and Landscapes

Artichoke – Cynara scolymus
Family Asteraceae (Sunflower family)

Plant Description

Artichokes are grown both as annual and perennial vegetables. They can be grown from seed or from root divisions. In California, Green Globe is the recommended variety. The bud is the part of the artichoke that is harvested.

Cultural Tips

Cultural practices such as proper site selection, soil preparation, planting, and watering are important for plant health, pest management and pest reduction when growing artichoke.
