Fruiting bodies of the turkey tail fungus, <i>Trametes versicolor</i>, consist of concentric rings of dark and pale brown alternating with tan or whitish and sometimes other colors. The fungus causes sappy bark, a malady with peeling bark and dark, decayed wood.
