Adult plant bugs (Miridae), such as Lygus spp. (left), have a cuneus, a triangular area at the tip of the hardened (basal) portion of forewings (corium) and one or two closed cells (vein-bordered areas) in the membranous tip of the forewings. Seed bugs (right) lack a cuneus and have four to five parallel veins that form three or four closed cells in the forewing tips.
