How to Manage Pests

Pests in Gardens and Landscapes

Fruit cracking

Fruit cracking occurs mostly during the harvest period when the fruit is either almost ripe or already mature and has been wet with rain or sprinkler water.

Solutions

Harvest mature fruit before rains occur and avoid getting fruit wet with sprinklers to prevent fruit from cracking. When rain does occur, harvest immediately to reduce the amount of fruit that is cracked. Some varieties may not be as susceptible to cracking as others.
