Lima bean seedling with stem and leaves chewed or torn off. Cool weather and/or dry soils can lead to tearing of leaves during development. This damage may also be caused by small mammals such as ground squirrels or rabbits, or invertebrates such as darkling beetles (Blapstinus) sp.
