2013 Highlights: UC IPM Annual Report

UC IPM gets the word out through ANR blogs

UC IPM is promoting pest news, updated and new products, and upcoming events through UC ANR blogs.

Because UC IPM encompasses such a wide range of subjects—from urban and agricultural issues to pesticide safety and weather data—sending articles to specialized blogs that focus on those subjects can reach far more people than a single, general purpose UC IPM blog could. The ANR blogs also benefit from the useful content we can provide.

In 2013, nineteen articles were posted to about 60 different ANR blogs. Agricultural blogs posted articles about minimizing air pollution from VOCs, the new year-round plans on cole crops and pistachios, updated information in the Caneberries Pest Management Guideline, the new (3rd) edition of the manual IPM for Rice, online tutorials using the year-round plans and degree-day modules, and upcoming pesticide safety training opportunities.

Urban and Master Gardener blogs picked up articles highlighting new and revised Pest Notes and announcing new YouTube videos on pests such as snails, spiders, mosquitoes, yellowjackets, and bed bugs.
