2013 Highlights: UC IPM Annual Report

Honors and awards

  • The Association of Applied IPM Ecologists presented UC IPM Advisor Pete Goodell with their Lifetime Achievement Award in January. Pete?s research and extension work have supported IPM programs in California, particularly in field crops, and he has been involved in numerous projects to advance the professionalism of IPM practitioners. He directed the UC IPM Program from 2007 until mid-2009.
  • IPM Advisor Lucia Varela was named Sonoma County Harvest Fair 2013 Friend of Sonoma County Agriculture. The award recognized Varela?s years supporting the Sonoma County agriculture industry. She has developed and extended IPM programs in pome fruits and grapes and over the past 10 years has spent considerable time helping growers manage exotic pests.
  • The UC IPM Program was part of a group recognized by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation?s 2013 IPM Innovator Awards for its work developing the IPM Advocates for Retail Stores program. Mary Louise Flint and Karey Windbiel-Rojas were key UC IPM participants. Other collaborators were the Bay Area Stormwater Management Agencies Association and Our Water Our World.
