Research and IPMResearch Tools: California Pesticide Use SummariesUC IPM developed this database from data from the California Department of Pesticide Regulation. The database includes summaries of pesticides used on California crops datailed by commodity, pesticide, county, and month. The database has no information about a pesticide or its label.
About the ReportsCONTENTS:View ReportsBecause the Pesticide Use Summaries are often very large, we have separated the reports for viewing into manageable sizes and provided many ways for you to link to the various parts. Report HeadingsThe report heading, both a source of information and a navigational tool, includes:
Navigating and ButtonsFrom the report heading, you have navigational links as mentioned above. From any part of a report, you can link to:
At the bottom of each report, you can link to:
Report Contents and FormattingUnlike the reports you receive when you retrieve data, the order in which variables are displayed in the reports for viewing has been predetermined. All reports have common features, such as the information displayed at the top of the report, structure, and codes. Specific formatting conventions are used when multiple subtotals are requested. As the example below shows, vertical lines visually connect the subtotaled item name to the line displaying the subtotal figure, making the report easier to read. In this example, subtotals were requested for site, pesticide, county, and months in that sort order. Two sites (head lettuce and cotton), two pesticides (methomyl and aromatic petroleum distillates), and two counties (Fresno and Imperial) for January through December were the selection criteria. Selecting Output OptionsReportsAll reports have common features, such as the information displayed at the top of the report, structure, and codes. The top of the report displays the date and time the report was generated and the selection criteria you requested, including site, pesticide, and county names; use period; subtotal categories; sort order; and unit and method abbreviations, when applicable. Standard ReportThe standard report, shown below, displays number of applications and pounds of active ingredient by site, then pesticide. ** University of California, Division of Agriculture & Natural Resources ** California Pesticide Use Summaries report created: 14:45:17 29 JAN 1993. 2 sites requested: cotton lettuce, head 2 pesticides requested: methomyl petroleum distillates, aromatic 2 counties requested: Fresno Imperial Pesticide use period requested: Jan 1990 through Dec 1990 Subtotals requested: Sites Pesticides Report order: Sites Pesticides Counties Months ****************************************************************************** # APPS POUNDS AI cotton | methomyl 152 5,099.1258 | petroleum distillates, aromatic 1,247 45,747.0531 *Subtotal cotton 1,399 50,846.1789 * lettuce, head | methomyl 3,213 81,449.2170 | petroleum distillates, aromatic 33 2,307.1044 *Subtotal lettuce, head 3,246 83,756.3214 * # APPS POUNDS AI ---- -------- GRAND TOTAL 4,645 134,602.5003 Reports with a Customized FormatYou can request the summaries in various formats by choosing "Report with a customized format." The associated selections determine whether subtotals for site, pesticide, county, and month are reported and the order in which the subtotals are displayed. Additionally, you can choose to report amount treated and planted, and application method, which will greatly increase your report size and create large files. As shown below, the options are separated into three blocks, each used to determine your final report format. Make selections in the first block to indicate that you want subtotals of "# apps" and "pounds AI" by site, pesticide, county, and/or month. In the next block, select 1, 2, 3, or 4 for the order that you want the selected subtotals displayed. You must enter an order number for each option that you selected in the first block. Make selections in the third block to generate report totals for "Amount treated and planted" and "Application method" (these selections may greatly increase the size of your report). Grand totals only. A simple report of grand totals only, as shown below, can be produced by not marking any fields. ** University of California, Div. of Agriculture & Natural Resources ** California Pesticide Use Summaries report created: 11:48:08 17 DEC 1992. 2 sites requested: tomato tomato (processing/canning) 1 pesticide requested: bacillus thuringiensis 1 county requested: Yolo Pesticide use period requested: Jan 1990 through Dec 1990.
