UC IPM Makes It HappenPierce's Disease
Pierce’s disease is a bacterial disease carried
by leafhoppers from plant to plant. Best known as a severely debilitating
disease of grapes, Pierce’s disease can also infect other crops
such as citrus and almonds, and many species of ornamental plants in
parks and gardens.
UC IPM Director Rick Roush oversees
the UC Pierce's Disease Research Grants Program, also federally funded.
For 2006-07 funding,
the program released a call for proposals jointly with the CDFA Pierce's
Disease Control Program.
