Cauliflower –Brassica oleracea var. botrytis
Family Brassicaceae (Mustard family)
Plant Description
Cauliflower is a cool-season vegetable that can be direct seeded or transplanted. Of all cole crops, cauliflower is the most sensitive to both low and high temperatures. Varieties include Snow King, Snow Crown, as well as the colorful varieties Graffiti (purple), Panther (green), Cheddar (orange), and Romanesco. Rotate cole crops (cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, and Brussels sprouts) from year to year within your garden to prevent pest build up in soil.
Cultural Tips
Cultural practices such as proper site selection, soil preparation, planting, and watering are important for plant health, pest management and pest reduction when growing cauliflower.
