Degree-Days: Single Triangulation Method

Intercepted by the lower threshold
Degree-days in this case are represented by the area under the temperature curve (straight lines between a day?s min, its max, and the next day?s min) that also lies between the upper and lower thresholds. The max temperature is between the thresholds, and the min temperatures are below the lower threshold.

Formula for calculating degree-days (°D) for a 24 hour period. Accumulated degree-days are shaded areas of diagrams.

TU = Upper threshold
TL = Lower threshold
Tmax = Maximum temperature
Tmin = Minimum temperature
