- In full sun, mow under 1 inch; in moderate shade, mow at 2 inches.
- In early spring, mow off dormant grass blades to promote spring green-up.
Fertilizing
- Fertilize with 1 - 2 lbs. nitrogen/1000 sq. ft. per year during the
period of active growth (May - September) for minimum maintenance purposes.
Planting
- Establish buffalograss by seeding, sodding, or with vegetative plugs.
- Seed at 1.5 - 2 lbs. seed/1000 sq. ft.
- If sodding, plant in mid-spring to mid-summer.
- If using plugs, use 2-inch plugs spaced a 1 ft. intervals.
Irrigation
- Water infrequently.
- Watering once every 1 - 2 weeks is adequate for most areas of established
turf.
- Little water is required if buffalograss is left unmowed.
Special problems
