If you applied herbicides, mow the dry
grass at a very low setting, so that the blade is cutting just above
the soil line. Rake up the clippings. A thatching rake can help to
loosen the debris on the soil surface. If you dug out the lawn or
rototilled the soil, remove the debris by raking the soil. Additional
tilling and raking may be necessary until all the grass and weeds
are removed.
