Key to Aphids Most Commonly Found in San Joaquin Valley Alfalfa and Cotton

Based on the key characteristics, the aphid is likely to be

Potato aphid (Macrosiphum euphorbiae)

Potato aphid adults and nymphs.
Colony of potato aphids.Pink and a green potato aphid adult.

This aphid commonly has both a pink and a green form. You might see one or the other or both color forms in the same colony.
