Caterpillars that may cause damage to lawns in California include skippers, cutworms, armyworms and webworms. Typical damage is yellowing or browning of the turf. Be sure you have positively determined that caterpillars are the cause before deciding to treat because many other factors can cause similar symptoms. Low numbers of caterpillars will not cause significant damage.
