Identification: Characteristics of Naiad Plants

Naiads are perennial freshwater plants with floating or submerged leaves, or both. They grow where standing water persists from early spring into summer. On mature plants, leaves encircle the stem usually in whorls of three. Leaves are very narrow and taper at the tips.
