Leaf Stalks (petioles)

Leaves may be attached to the stem by a petiole (short stalk) or may be sessile (attached directly to the stem). Some sessile leaves clasp the stem.

stem by a stalk (petiole).		 Leaves are stalkless and
attach directly to the stem.		 Leaves are stalkless, attach
directly to the stem, clasping it.
Leaves with petioles Leaves with no petioles Leaves that clasp the stem
