Identification: Characteristics of Broadleaves

Leaf Stalks (petioles)

Leaves may be attached to the stem by a petiole (short stalk) or may be sessile (attached directly to the stem). Some sessile leaves clasp the stem.

attach directly to the stem.
Leaves are stalkless, attach
directly to the stem, clasping it.
