Pests in Gardens and Landscapes
Weigela—Weigela spp.
Family Caprifoliaceae (Honeysuckle family)
Plant IdentificationWeigelas are attractive deciduous shrubs. Leaves are coarse and stiff. Flowers are funnel-shaped and may be white, pink, red, purple, or yellow.
Optimum conditions for growthWeigelas are often planted as background plants for flower borders, as screens, or in mixed borders. They do well in areas with full sun or light shade and require regular water. Prune old ragged foliage and cut back stems that have flowered to favor new blooms.
