How to Manage Pests

Pests in Gardens and Landscapes

Jacaranda—Jacaranda spp.
Family Bignoniaceae (Bignonia family)

Plant Identification

Jacaranda is a deciduous or semievergreen tree.  Trees often have multiple trunks or appear shrubby.  Leaves are fernlike.  Trees generally bloom mid to late spring.  Flowers are tubular, lavender-blue, or white and clustered.

Optimum conditions for growth

Jacaranda does well in areas with full sun and moderate amounts of water.  They do best in sandy soils but can tolerate many soil types.  Flowers often won’t form near ocean winds or in areas without any heat.  Mature trees need little pruning.
