Pests in Gardens and Landscapes
Rhaphiolepis, India hawthorn—Rhaphiolepis spp.
Family Rosaceae (Rose family)
Plant identification
Rhaphiolepis spp. are very hardy,
compact evergreen shrubs or small trees. Their flowers are
white to pink; dark blue berrylike fruit may follow. They
make an excellent foundation planting, large-scale groundcover,
or informal hedge with consistent performance through the
growing season.
Optimum conditions for growth
Rhaphiolepis spp. do well in most
climatic zones except some of the snowiest parts of the West.
They prefer full sun to light shade.
