How to Manage Pests
Pests in Gardens and Landscapes
Laurel—Prunus spp.
English laurel—Prunus laurocerasus
Family Rosaceae (Rose family)
Plant identification
Laurels are large evergreen shrubs
or small trees. They are planted as
large screens, hedges, shade trees, or street trees. Dwarf forms are available.
Optimum conditions for growth
Laurels can be grown in most climatic
zones. They grow best in full sun to partly shady conditions.
They grow fast with ample water. English laurel tends to be
vigorous, making it difficult to garden beneath.
