Bush anemone—Carpenteria californica

Plant Identification

Bush anemone is an evergreen shrub with many stems coming out from the base of the plant.  It can grow up to 4 to 6 feet tall.  Leaves are thick and narrow with the upper sides dark green and the undersides whitish.  White flowers with yellow centers are produced in late spring and summer. 

Optimum conditions for growth

Bush anemones do well in areas with full sun but need partial shade in very hot climates.  Plants require little to moderate amounts of water.  Prune after flowering to shape growth.
