Pests in Gardens and Landscapes

Agave—Agave spp.
Yucca—Yucca spp.
Family Agavaceae (Agave family)

Plant Identification

Agave spp. are succulent perennial plants.  Yucca spp. may be evergreen trees, shrubs, or perennials.  Leaves are fleshy or tough and long.  Flowers are formed in large clusters, and often white.

Optimum conditions for growth

Agave and yucca plants do well in well-drained soil with little water.  They prefer mostly full sun but can do well in partial shade.  Group with other succulent plants such as cacti.  They can be grown indoors and do well near hot sunny windows.
