Pests in Gardens and Landscapes
Chinch and false chinch bugs
Chinch bugs and false chinch bugs, which are members of the family Lygaeidae, feed on seeds, fruit, and
flowers of some landscape trees, but are primarily pests of herbaceous plants and rarely cause significant
damage. Adults are small, slender, blackish bugs with reddish or yellowish brown legs. Wings may be white
with brown spots or brown with white tips.
