How to Manage Pests

Pests in Gardens and Landscapes

Branch and twig dieback—Various fungi

Leaves on older branches discolor, wilt, and die. Branches may also wilt and dark sunken areas may appear on the base of the branch.

Solutions

Prune out and dispose of infected leaves and branches. Avoid overhead sprinklers, which splash spores onto the plant, or irrigate early in the day so that the foliage dries more quickly.
