How to Manage Pests

Pests in Gardens and Landscapes

Dieback

Dieback is associated with delayed leafing out. Wilting of canes and laterals and dieback at tips in early spring as first leaves are unfolding are characteristic of the disorder.

Solutions

Dieback is a physiological disorder. Its cause is not yet determined, but it may be associated with freezing injury, winter drought, or insufficient chilling. Late fall and winter irrigations may reduce dieback.
