Figure

Diagram of lygus movement into strawberries and accumulations of degree-days (DD) above 54° F that predict lygus generations in strawberries. Begin the first accumulation when the first lygus nymph is found in weeds (sometime in March). Begin the second accumulation when the first adult lygus is found in strawberries (sometime in April). The first hatch of lygus nymphs in central coast strawberries is predicted 252 DD after the first adults are seen in strawberries. The second hatch of nymphs is predicted 799 DD after the first lygus nymphs are found in weeds. The third hatch occurs 799 DD after first nymphs are found in strawberries.
