A) Cotton Bollworm spines are absent on tubercles on eighth abdominal segments; no large tooth (retinaculum) present on mandible.
B) Tobacco Budworm has short spines present on tubercles on top of eighth abdominal segment and a large tooth (C) usually present on inner side of mandible, but it may be worn or broken.
