Calculate Expected Square/Fruit Retention
To find the expected square/fruit retention, evaluate results from your lygus
and square/fruit retention
sampling. The values you need are:
- Total number of fruiting branches.
- Percent fruit retention on both the bottom and top 5 fruiting branches.
This calculator will compare your sampled percent retention for the top 5 first position squares with
an expected value based on research.
You may also use this table to determine the expected percent retention.

The retention on the first fruiting branch is erratic and at least 3
branches should be present before lygus decisions are made.
