CottonManage Verticillium WiltIf you have evidence of a Verticillium problem in your field or if you plan to plant a new variety next season with unknown Verticillium tolerance, conduct stem sampling (percent vascular discoloration test), starting when the crop is mature. If percent discoloration is high or if you would like to determine the length of time for rotation out of cotton to manage Verticillium, consider sampling the Verticillium inoculum (microsclerotia) index levels using soil sampling. Verticillium-tolerant varieties are an ideal strategy in an IPM program for managing Verticillium. Consider tolerant varieties that are appropriate to your growing conditions. See the Verticillium wilt pest management guideline for cotton for more information. Important links |
