Identification tips: Black with white, red, and yellow stripes; eggs and larvae found on leaves of weeds near field covered with a gray, cottony material; feed mostly at night on asparagus fern branches girdling branches.

Identification tips: Very small, shiny black, slightly humpbacked flies; dark brown; look for transparent mines on ferns; present in May and late summer.

Identification tips: Larvae are dark green-gray grubs; adults are either black and red with yellow spots or orange with black spots; chew on young shoots’ leaves and stems.
