Pests in Gardens and Landscapes
Eucalyptus, Gum—Eucalyptus spp.*
Family Myrtaceae (Myrtle family)
Plant identification
Eucalyptus species are evergreen trees or
large shrubs. They are hardy, fast-growing, and widely adaptable.
*Some species are invasive plants or woody weed invaders. Other types of plants may be better choices when planting.
Optimum conditions for growth
Eucalyptus plants are widely adaptable to
several climatic zones. They do best in full sun. They require
little water once established; some species do better with
some supplemental summer water.
