Spiders
Spiders are mostly beneficial because they are predators of insects and other arthropods, although many people fear them. Among the poisonous spiders, only the widow spiders commonly occur in California. Spiders that might seriously injure people generally spend most of their time hidden. The spiders commonly seen out in the open during the day are unlikely to bite people.
