Oleander—Nerium oleander

Plant identification

Oleanders are evergreen shrubs, generally ranging from 8 to12 feet. Dwarf forms grow 3 to 4 feet. They produce lovely color in the hottest part of the summer. All parts of the plant are poisonous.

Optimum conditions for growth

Oleanders grow in most climatic zones except for the higher elevations in Washington and Oregon. They do best in full sun and require little water once established. They flower even in the harshest conditions.
