Pests in Gardens and Landscapes
Abelia—Abelia spp.
Family Caprifoliaceae (Honeysuckle family)
Plant Identification
Abelias are evergreen or semievergreen deciduous shrubs. Leaves are oval and glossy. Flowers are tubular or bell-shaped and form clusters at the end of branches. Flowers are purplish or copper in color.
Optimum conditions for growth
Abelias can be planted as borders or barriers. Varieties that grow low are good ground covers. Abelia does best in full sun but will tolerate partial shade. Regular water is required. Don’t overprune.
