How to Manage Pests
Pests in Gardens and Landscapes
Nasturtium—Tropaeolum spp.
Family Tropaeolaceae (Nasturtium family)
Plant Identification
Nasturtiums are rapidly growing annual or perennial
plants. Some species are compact and bushy while others climb
or trail along the ground. Leaves are rounded or may be deeply
lobed. Flower color varies and may be reddish-brown, orange,
yellow, red, or white. Nasturtiums bloom in spring, throughout
the summer, and well into fall. They attract butterflies.
Optimum conditions for growth
Nasturtiums prefer sandy soils, but will do well
in most well-drained soil type. They do well in full sun or
partial shade and require regular water. Some species can
tolerate drought conditions.
