Pest identification: Vertebrate pests

California PCA Exam Helper: Category D

The knowledge expectations for the Category D California PCA exam require that you:

  • be familiar with the following vertebrates and know which are pests
  • for pest species, understand their general biology and ecology and management tactics for their control.

Remember, in addition to knowing these organisms, there are many other knowledge expectations for this exam. Get the complete list of knowledge expectations from DPR.

Although UC IPM pages are not available for some of these, the three study guides for the vertebrate PCA licensing area have additional pictures. These include the online Vertebrate Pest Control Handbook and Prevention and Control of Wildlife Damage. The print manual Wildlife Pest Control Around Homes and Gardens is available for sale from ANR.
