Plant Identification
Vincas are perennials usually treated as annuals. Plants grow well as ground covers or in hanging baskets. Leaves are long and glossy. Flowers appear in spring and vary in color. They may be white or white with a rose center, bluish pink, lavender, or bright pink. Flowers bloom throughout the summer.
Some species of Vinca, such as Vinca major, are invasive plants or woody weed invaders. Other species may be better choices when planting.
Optimum conditions for growth
Vincas grow well in full sun or partial shade. They thrive in dry or humid heat and need little to moderate amounts of water. Do not overwater and make sure plants are growing in well-drained soil.
