Symptoms of tipburn include death of terminal tissues of young, folded leaves in late spring or early summer. When leaves mature, they are irregularly shaped and puckered, appearing burned back from their tips to about half normal size.
Solutions
Tipburn is a physiological disorder, most common in Southern California and inland areas. A sudden spell of high temperatures after prolonged, cool spring weather seems to induce this condition. Hot weather during summer and fall does not affect heat-conditioned plants. No action is necessary. Plants will replace damaged leaves with healthy foliage.
