Plant Identification

Tea trees are soft-looking evergreen shrubs or trees. Leaves are small. Flowers are produced singly and consist of five petals surrounding a center cup that eventually becomes a woody seed capsule. Flowers are white, pink, or red.

Optimum conditions for growth

Tea trees do well in seacoast conditions, prefer areas with full sun, and require little to moderate amounts of water. Plant in well-drained, slightly acid soil. Prune occasionally to thin and shape growth.
