Plant Identification
Lilies are perennial plants that grow from bulbs and do well in containers. Depending on species, flowers can bloom in spring through fall. They are often trumpet-shaped or drooping and have a wide range of colors including blue, yellow, white, orange, pink, and red. Petals are sometimes spotted, banded or have other distinct markings.
Optimum conditions for growth
Lilies can be planted in full sun where climates are cool. However in warm areas, plant where lilies will get partial or filtered shade. Lilies require rich, well-drained soil and need regular water throughout the year. An organic mulch placed around plants can help keep the soil cool.
