Plant Identification

The Japanese pagoda tree is a deciduous tree.  Leaves are dark green and divided into several leaflets.  In summer, clusters of sweet-pea shaped blossoms are produced followed by seedpods.  Flowers are yellowish-white.

Optimum conditions for growth

The Japanese pagoda tree is often grown as a shade tree in lawns or on patios, however flowers and seedpods often leave stains on pavement.  Trees do best in areas with full sun or partial shade and moderate amounts of water.  Provide good drainage.
