Plant Identification

Golden rain trees are small deciduous trees that can grow up to 30 or 40 feet tall.  Leaves are divided into oval, toothed, or lobed leaflets.  Yellow flowers are produced in large, loose clusters.  Orange or reddish papery fruit capsules form after bloom.

Optimum conditions for growth

Koelreuteria spp. are often planted as lawn, patio, or street trees.  They do well in areas with full sun and require moderate to regular amounts of water.  They can tolerate most soil types but require good drainage.  Prune to shape tree.
