Plant Identification

Douglas fir is a coniferous evergreen tree. In dry conditions, the needles tend to be closely spaced; in moist soils trees are thin. They have dense, green to very blue needles, and in native conditions, can grow 70 to 250 feet tall.

Optimum conditions for growth

Trees grow best in full sun and well-drained soils. They require little water once established.
