Chrysanthemum morifolium and Dendranthema grandiflora are perennial plants often grown as annuals. They are usually found in borders or pots. Flowers bloom in late summer or fall and vary in form, size, and color. Colors include red, pink, orange, yellow, purple, and white.
Optimum conditions for growth
Chrysanthemums need regular water and fertilizer during the growing period. Plant in rich soil with good drainage. They can do well in areas with full sun, but in hot climates should be protected from afternoon sun. Pinch tips back in early spring for more compact plants.
