Plant Identification

Camellias are evergreen shrubs or small trees that can grow up to 20 feet; most species grow between 6 and 12 feet.

Optimum conditions for growth

Camellias grow best with partial to full shade. In cooler climates camellias can survive on available rainfall; in other areas, summer irrigation is required. Camellias do best in fast draining, slightly acidic soils with high organic matter content.
