On the Spot Award rewards staff for a job well done.

UC Agriculture and Natural Resources On the Spot Award rewards staff for their hard work and dedication to doing a job well done.

Maria Alfaro was nominated by her supervisor Lisa Blecker and colleague Sarah Risorto for taking the lead on a training presentation. Alfaro took extra steps to ensure all the necessary information was delivered in the presentation, and shared this with Risorto so she could prepare for her part of the presentation. “Maria did a great job keeping the boat afloat and did so with a sunny disposition!”

Lisa Blecker was nominated by UCCE Advisor John Roncoroni for her outstanding contribution to making the 2016 California Weed Science Society meeting a fantastic success. Blecker did a great job educating the attendees and promoting UC IPM.

Ria DeBiase was nominated by her supervisor Peter Kosina for her remarkable effort to identify potential issues and solutions for curating and organizing information into the new pesticide database. She also helped clarify the future presentation of pesticide information in the Pest Management Guidelines.

Cheryl Reynolds was nominated twice. UCCE Advisor John Roncoroni nominated Reynolds for her outstanding contribution and making the 2016 California Weed Science Society meeting a fantastic success. Reynolds did a great job educating the attendees and promoting UC IPM. Reynolds, nominated by her supervisor Petr Kosina, received a second award due to her exceptional and enthusiastic customer service for participants of UC IPM’s 19 online courses.

Sarah Risorto was nominated by UCCE Advisor John Roncoroni for her outstanding contribution to making the 2016 California Weed Science Society meeting a fantastic success. Risorto did a great job educating the attendees and promoting UC IPM.

Fernanda Rosa was nominated by her supervisor Chinh Lam for her superb design of the ANR pest management blogs webpage and initial design of the Seasonal Landscape IPM Checklist.

Anne Schellman was nominated by her supervisor Karey Windbiel-Rojas for her extra productivity organizing UC IPM’s Picnic Day booth and two other outreach events. Schellman quickly attends to the many, many requests that involve her role as urban IPM educator including organizing printed materials, writing social media articles, or responding to vendors and clients.

Danny Won was nominated by Pesticide Safety and Education Program Coordinator Lisa Blecker for always making himself available when asked and going out of his way to be accommodating. For example, Won helped order materials for and organize the Fieldworker Training kits, handles all the travel and entertainment expenses for trainings, and does this with a great attitude, contributing to the success of Blecker’s teaching program.
